A consortium made up of 5 partners -including DEXMA- will implement an ambitious project lasting 24 months to reduce energy costs. The other members are: COMSA-EMTE, a large industrial engineering company belonging to an infrastructure and engineering group, Tecnalia and Energyville, leading Technology Centres in Spain and Belgium, respectively; and Evernalis, a smart grid software and service company.
The consortium is confident that they will achieve this without affecting, even improving, users’ comfort. To enable these savings, this project partially funded by KIC Innoenergy will develop an Integrated Energy Management System. The system will consist of 4 new APPs introduced in DEXMA’s existing software.
EQUALTIQ’s ultimate goal is to reduce energy costs more than 30% in hotels and buildings.
DEXMA Platform, is a cloud-based energy management solution. It allows users to visualize their entire energy usage data and detect savings opportunities. The APPs will enhance the current DEXCell features and will be focused on: (DFA) Demand Forecast Assessment, (SaDSM/ADSM) Automatic and Semi-Automatic Demand Side Management, (EP) Energy Procurement and (DR) Demand Response. To offer an appealing solution, the customer needs to have a basic maintenance fee on the DEXMA Platform to be able to run the apps.
Energy costs for hotels and office buildings have an important impact in their profitability. It might not come as a shock that energy is tertiary buildings’ biggest operating cost after salaries. Moreover, if operations remain the same, energy costs will continue to rise as they have been since 2005. EQUALTIQ APPs will help offset the latter by offering customers high performance tools on energy. The solutions offered by the APPs will help protect and increase margins in the real estate market sector.
The countries in which the EQUALTIQ project focuses on are Spain, Benelux, United Kingdom and France. In these countries, the total addressable market consists of 73.270 buildings consuming 125.565 GWh/y. The aim of the project is to get 3.531 buildings within 6 years.
The consortium members have envisioned the future of smart buildings based on their experience. They see an integrated approach of these buildings with renewable energy, total operation costs, customer comfort, and sustainability. They are confident that their products will contribute significantly towards that integration in this market and the reduction of energy costs.
